Main Menu
Step aside, breakfast– brunch is newly designated as the most important meal of the day, and we couldn’t be happier to enjoy a wide range of morning favorites. National City is home to more than 75 brunch places that are among the best in the state, and we’ve got three special favorites that rise above the rest.
Family House of Pancakes has a long-held tradition of serving up comfort and some of the best pancakes in the area using recipes passed down from generation to generation. Available pancakes include the Triple B Pancakes with banana, bacon, and peanut butter, the Mellow Blueberry Pancakes with ripe berries and powdered sugar, the Tropical Pancakes with sauteed pineapple and toasted coconut, and the Pigs in a Blanket wrapped around link sausage.
If pancakes aren’t your thing, treat yourself to a waffle such as the Peach Cobbler Waffle with whipped cream, the Banana Foster Waffle with sauteed bananas, or the Apple Medley Waffle topped with pecans, dried cranberries, and a spiced apple mix. Crepe lovers will have a difficult time choosing between the Nutella Crepes with strawberries and a special cheese blend and the Swedish Crepes topped with whipped butter and imported lingonberries.
The Broken Yolk Cafe is known for great food served in a warm and friendly setting located inside of the Plaza Bonita. Begin your brunch with a tasty drink like an Arnold Palmer, Blueberry Banana Smoothie, Messy Caramel Latte, or a glass of pomegranate juice. Healthier options at The Broken Yolk don’t compromise taste, and we particularly enjoy the Wellness Wrap with red peppers and scrambled egg whites, the Acai Bowl with fresh berries, and the Feta Avocado Toast.
Make your own omelet filled with your choice of fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, kalamata olives, avocado, potatoes, turkey bacon, chorizo, salsa, and more. Benedict lovers can take their pick from the Golden State Benedict with grilled tomato and applewood-smoked bacon or the Border Benedict with seasoned carne asada and homemade poblano sauce. For a sweeter meal, try the Tiki Toast made from Hawaiian bread and topped with shredded coconut.
La Casa De Oro Restaurant has been specializing in homemade Mexican cuisine since 1992. Plan the timing of your trip around the rotating specials menu that offers breakfast tacos on Monday, breakfast burritos on Tuesday, huevos rancheros on Wednesday, machaca on Thursday, and chorizo on Friday. If you prefer an American breakfast, go for the Steak & Eggs or the Two Eggs Any Style served with toast and either home-fried potatoes or beans.
All of the omelets come with your choice of toast or tortillas, and our favorites include the Mushroom Omelette with bell peppers and onion, the Farmer’s Omelette with bacon and tomato, and the Guadalajara Omelette cooked with Mexican sausage and jack cheese. You can’t go wrong with one of Breakfast Specialties, and we recommend the Huevos Vallarta made from two eggs simmered in tomato sauce.
A delicious brunch is waiting at any of these restaurants, and we’re already looking forward to our next meal. After you’ve scanned the menu and decided what to order, head over to Honor Buick GMC to shop for cars, trucks, parts, and more!
